Peggy Beth Cicolini

February 1, 1942 — December 12, 2024

Bowie

Peggy Beth Cicolini, 82, of Bowie, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on December 12th, 2024. She was born in Greensburg, PA on February 1, 1942 and was the only child of Mary and Nevin Anderson. She and her mother later moved to New Kensington, PA where the highlight of her high school career was dancing with Ronald Reagan at her Senior prom. She chose a career in nursing from the influence of a family friend who was her babysitter for the majority of her childhood. Upon graduation from the Allegany Valley Hospital School of Nursing school in Pittsburg, she married the love of her life, Emidio “Chick” Cicolini, on August 17th, 1963. The couple relocated to Maryland to pursue their careers in Education and Healthcare and eventually settled into Bowie in 1968. Her career at the University of Maryland Health Center lasted for over 30 years. She was a caring and empathetic nurse that really enjoyed working on the Maryland campus and with college students.

At her time at the University of Maryland, Peggy was very active with the Maryland Football team. She hosted team dinners and became a surrogate mother to several players on the team. As she and Emidio began building their family, they helped start the Maryland Football Locker Club that operated social gatherings and events for players, coaches and their families. Those events created a welcoming family atmosphere in a program at the height of their success. Bonds were developed that last until this day.

Peggy was a very talented seamstress. Not only did she custom sew her own wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses for her wedding, she did the same for her daughter Lori and her wedding party in 1991. She enjoyed dancing and sailing and hosting family, especially her grandchildren, and friends in the backyard pool. Her favorite activity later in life was attending the sporting events of her grandchildren where she had a reputation as a very fiery supporter.

Peggy was married to her late husband, Chick, for over 58 years before his passing in 2022. Perhaps Peggy’s most important role as a nurse was caring for Chick when he was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2000. Her role in his recovery and survival of over 20 years cannot be overstated. They culminated their lives together with a trip to Italy that was their ultimate lifetime goal and achievement. Upon retirement, they enjoyed traveling to Sanibel Island and spending time at their home in Bethany Beach, DE with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Falencki and husband, Chick. Peggy is survived by her children, daughter Lori Cicolini Stehle and her husband William “Chip” Stehle, her grandchildren, Justin and his wife Virginia, Michael and his wife Emily, and Bethany Stehle; her son, Chris Cicolini, her grandchildren, Andrew Dilks, Nicholas and Gabriela Cicolini. She dedicated her life to her family and put their needs above all else. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She touched all of those that came in contact with her and her strong personality and sense of humor will greatly be missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 11th, 2025 at Sacred Heart Chapel, 16301 Annapolis Rd., Bowie Maryland 20715. There will be a viewing at the chapel at 11 AM followed by a 12 Noon mass.
