We are what we create and throughout her life, Peggy Foster created home.
Born on April 21, 1937 in Washington, DC, Peggy was an only child who grew up to form lifelong bonds with her cousins, Susan McKallor and Patti Thomas (Ugrin). While attending Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, she made friendships that would last a lifetime. Her longest friendship was with the love of her life, William Foster. They married in 1957, moved to Beltsville, Maryland in 1962, and became a family when their daughter Carolynn was born. Home, for Peggy, had begun.
Through the years, Peggy was actively involved in the church and in the community. A full time homemaker, she created a sense of family and of home that encompassed the entire neighborhood. Kids knew that they were welcome in her house and that there would always be plenty of snacks. Her brownies were legendary. Wherever Peggy went, she took home with her.
Peggy and Bill loved to travel and, with the camper in tow, they would visit friends who lived all over the country. One of their favorite places was Aquia Creek and memories were made of water skiing, crabbing, fishing and sailing. With their daughter and two well-loved grandsons, Benjamin and Jackson (Abbott), they frequently travelled to Sarasota, Florida. The sunsets were Peggy’s favorite.
Peggy left us on March 28, 2021. She’s home again with her devoted husband, Bill.
While those of us who loved her will miss her, we will carry on with the knowledge that it is because of her, we know the meaning of home.
