Penny Kohl Faunteroy was born on April 19, 1963 to Susan K. King and Paul Melvin Kohl in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. She departed this life on September 23, 2019 at Doctor’s Community Hospital. Penny, who was the first born, and her siblings grew up in Prince Georges County, Maryland where she attended county schools.
Penny’s career involved property management at various residential facilities throughout Prince George’s County. For the past twenty years, she served as manager of Lilly Garden Apartments. Penny excelled in her vocation all the while successfully raising her devoted sons, Joseph and Jason and doting on her growing family.
A kind and generous person, Penny supported many charities. Prior to her most recent illness, Penny was a two time cancer survivor which prompted her support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Family was extremely important to Penny and she enjoyed spending time them when laughter, especially with her sister Julie, abounded. Cruises to the Bahamas, Hawaii, Mexico and throughout the Caribbean provided special times for Penny and loved ones. Affectionately called “our mommy” by Joe and Jason, all of their children and friends adopted the endearment.
When she was not traveling, Penny enjoyed jig saw puzzles, shopping on HSN and QVC; she filled several curio cabinets with her collection of crystal trinkets and she savored that first in the morning cup of coffee. An excellent cook, Penny could duplicate most any recipe. Her baking repertoire included her famous cheesecakes and key lime pies. Penny was the crockpot queen! However, no family gathering excluded without her broccoli salad and mass production of delicious deviled eggs.
In addition to spoiling her grandchildren, Penny was a staunch supporter of the Laurel Stallions boys and girls club programs.
Penny leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory, her sons Joseph Lee Faunteroy (Tara), Jason Lee Faunteroy (Audra), siblings Julie Schultz (Terry), Luther “Butch” Bordonaro (Shirley), Edward Bordonaro (Kim), Susie Thomas (Joe), Raymond “Butch” Bordonaro (Lena), Patty Samson (Billy), grandchildren Sierra, Dorian, Camryn, Jason, Joey, Aria, London, Brandon and Amara, nieces and nephews Tyrena, Ashley, Todd, Emma, Eddie, Joseph, Ciara, significant other Roderick Jones, devoted friends Linda “Dee” Ramsey, Alvin Rawlings, and a host of other relatives and friends.
