Peter Charles Weiner went to be with the Lord on February 29, 2020 at the age of 53 at his residence in Maryland. Peter was born in Washington, DC on January 11, 1967, to Bennett and Shirley Weiner. He is survived by his loving family: parents Bennett & Shirley, siblings Steven, Linda, & Robert, aunts Virginia & Margot, uncle Ricardo, and a large extended family, both in the United States and in Costa Rica.
Peter grew up in New Carrollton, MD. He attended Parkdale High School and graduated with honors from St.Vincent Pallotti High School in 1985. He was an active member of his community and had many passions: sports, music, and cars. Peter excelled in all that he did--he was a talented sportsman, playing baseball, football, and also enjoyed diving. His passion for cars extended from his 1968 red Camaro to his 1982 black Pontiac Trans Am, just like the one that appeared in the Knight Rider TV show. Growing up, Peter would be seen cruising down the road with the windows down and his music playing. His favorite band was Van Halen, and his love for their music inspired him to learn to play the electric guitar. Peter was a fluent Spanish speaker, as he learned this language native to his mother, and some of his happiest times were spent in Costa Rica visiting his family there.
As an adult, Peter struggled with schizophrenia. He went to live at Vesta Mental Health Services in 1998, where he was loved by all the staff and continued to live until his death. Peter was a beloved member of our family and will be missed by all.
I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. Then I called on the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!” Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful. ...Psalm 27:4-5
