Phyllis Ann Glazer of Bowie, Maryland passed away on March 20, 2019. Born in Washington, D.C. on February 20, 1955, to Phillip Lawrence and Ann Marie Ermer, Phyllis grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland and attended Northwestern High School, graduating in 1973. Phyllis served as an officer in the Washington Metropolitan Police Department from 1973 until 1976, followed by service as an officer of the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division from 1976 until 1979. Her service in private security thereafter included executive protection for MVM International from 1980 to 1984, part of which involved protecting members of the Royal Family of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
During her married life of 29 years in Bowie, Phyllis volunteered as a group leader at Laurel Regional Hospital on behalf of the Prince George's County Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Phyllis helped many people struggling with mental illness to achieve wellness and success in life.
Phyllis leaves behind her loving husband of 29 years, Hon. Steven A. Glazer; her loving daughter, Jordan Diane Glazer; Jordan's husband, Zachary Ian McCalla; and two grandsons, Kingston Isaiah McCalla (3 years old) and Mason Phillip McCalla (newborn). Her surviving siblings are her sister, Kathy Soucy; and her brother, Thomas Ermer.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Phyllis' life on Sunday, April 7, 2019, commencing at 2:00 p.m., at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy.
