Phyllis L. Oliver

Phyllis Marie Oliver died peacefully at home on January 22, 2021, at the age of 87.  She was born to Roy Elgin Lovins, Sr. and Grace Estelle Johnson Lovins in Atlanta, GA on July 26, 1933.

Some of her early childhood memories included participating in scrap and rubber drives in Atlanta, GA, and living in Mobile, AL, while her stepfather worked in the shipyards during World War II.  Moving back to Atlanta, she met Burton Woodward Oliver in 1952, when friends introduced them.  They were married on April 26, 1953 in Atlanta, GA and raised four children throughout their moves to Cairo, GA; Valdosta, GA; Jackson, TN; Shreveport, LA; New Orleans, LA;  Dallas, TX.  They moved to Bowie in 1968 and started Econopest Exterminating Company in Glenn Dale, MD in 1970, where she was co-founder and ultimately co-founder of Novex Pest Management in Bowie MD where she retired in 2010. 

Phyllis was a Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed cooking, and loved to spend time at her house on St. Georges Island, MD with family and friends.  She had a great sense of humor.  She enjoyed her wine red, her coffee black, her crabs steamed, and her fish fried. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Bobbie Ann Lovins, Jerry R. Lovins, Robert Lee White, Jr., Jimmie Wayne Lovins, and Sherry White.  She is survived by brother, Roy (“Chick”) Elgin Lovins, Jr.,

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Burton Woodward Oliver, sons, Phillip W. Oliver (Cheryl), Michael J. Oliver (Paula), and Gregory B. Oliver, and daughter, Cathy A. Anadale (Steve), as well as three grandchildren, Jessica L. Lopez (Alex), Molly M. Anadale, Carl P. Anadale, and great granddaughter, Gloria C. Lopez, and her beloved dog, Nick.   She was affectionally known to all as MawMaw,

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD. 

A Gathering will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 2-4pm at Beall Funeral Home.
