Raymond (Ray) Sagar Hart III
At the age of 86, Ray died peacefully at home on September 12th 2021, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Ray was born on May 25th 1935 in Washington, DC, to the late Raymond S. Hart Jr. and Frances Avery Hart. Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Alice (Hart) Smith.
He graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, Montgomery Junior College, and then the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. Raymond married his wife, Marthana (Marcy) Stoneburner on September 12th 1959.
Ray worked for the National Security Agency. His career allowed him to live in Germany (Frankfurt and Berlin) for four years. He also became the liaison between Headquarters and Bad Aibling Station Germany, which had him travel to Bad Aibling 26 times. In his lifetime, he was also able to travel to more than 46 countries. After 36 years of federal service, Ray retired in 1992. He had traveled more overseas than he had in the United States. Because of his love for travel, Ray and his wife purchased a motorhome and went on the road for the next 23 years. Ray and Marcy were able to drive to 49 states, visit Hawaii and take several cruises. During this time, they made many friends and were able to travel with their children and grandsons.
Ray is survived by Marcy his wife of 62 years, children Kristin (Hart) Mrozek and Michael Hart, and grandsons Ryan Hart and Joshua Murphy.
