Raymond Jabara of Crofton, Maryland, passed away on the morning of September 12th, 2020.
Ray was born on June 14th, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY, to Evelyn and Raymond Jabara. He was the oldest of four siblings. He attended Poly Prep Country Day School, class of 1962. He graduated from Colgate University with a degree in psychology and went on to earn his Masters and PhD from The University of Maryland, College Park. He worked as a clinical psychologist, specializing in PTSD and Substance Abuse, for the State of Arizona prison system, and for the Veteran’s Administration in Phoenix. He touched many lives with his counseling, in particular running group therapy sessions for Vietnam Veterans. He was a tremendous athlete, playing collegiate level baseball and swimming. He fell in love with the sport of golf at age 12 and continued to play into his 70’s. He enjoyed music, and could always be found singing along to The Beatles, The Carpenters, and pretty much any song that he knew the words to. A spiritual man, he was a source of kindness and love to anyone who needed it.
Raymond was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Catherine, and his parents, Evelyn and Raymond. He is survived by his daughter Christine (Geoffrey) Cunningham, grand-children Benjamin and Scott, step-daughter Malaika Stuart, step-granddaughter Harper, step-son Gregory (Sharee) Stuart, step-grand-children Sydney, Andy, and William, brothers Fred and Steve Jabara, and sister Kathy Kunkle.
A memorial is planned for next summer in Mt. Pocono, PA. Contact the family for further details. Donations in his memory can be made to The Gary Sinise Foundation.
