Ray lived in the Gambrills/Davidsonville area most of his life before moving to Lothian. He went to Arundel High School where he played baseball and was very active in the FFA . He was drafted to the Washington Senators, but chose to stay home to farm and join the International Union of Operating Engineers with his Dad. He eventually started his family and became Chief at Anne Arundel Vol. Fire Dept, Co. # 7. He was best known in the area as President/Owner of Ray Sears and Son, Inc. and Rayco Steel Buildings. He loved to go by and see the structures or Parks he created. Six Flags, Joe Cannon Stadium and Watkins Park were a few of his favorites. He, Dianne, and Donny worked side by side in all of his adventures whether it be construction, Glen Burnie Golf Center, Crofton Skate Board and Water Slide Park, Bueno Vista Landscaping, Little Sicily Italian Restaurant, or Dudley’s Bar and Grill.  Ray was also an avid rabbit hunter and field trial competitor that made champions. He sponsored a AAA class slow pitch softball team to the Championships. He was a major part of the Maryland Quarter Horse Assoc in its early years. You could also hear him play a tune or sing in the Dallas County Band.
