Richard Lee Aldridge

June 29, 1941 — July 29, 2020

Richard (Dick) Aldridge, of Davidsonville, passed away on July 29, 2020. He was born June 29, 1941, as the son of Charles Howard Aldridge and Ruth Virginia (Pitzer) Aldridge. He was born in Cumberland, Maryland and was raised in Mount Savage, Maryland.  He graduated from Mount Savage School in 1959.  He joined the United States Air Force in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1968, where he started working at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, until his retirement.

Dick loved collecting sports memorabilia, watching the Washington Redskins and college basketball. He worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center from 1969 thru 2012, as a mechanical technician. He enjoyed his work which is evident in the fact that he had to make the hard decision to finally retire at the age of 70 and leave his Goddard family behind, however he stayed in touch with many of them in the past nine years. He spent a lot of time after retirement with his beloved dog, Zorro. He was a soft-spoken man, and a man of few words. He was always smiling and loved being around his ever-growing family. We will truly miss his smile!

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Houchens) Aldridge, his two sisters, Nancy Hedgelen (Bud) and Jane Farrow, his three daughters, Tracy Baker (Bobbie), Krista Aldridge, and Kimberly Aldridge, and his son Richard Aldridge (Salima).  He is predeceased by his brother Gary Aldridge and his son Mark Richard Aldridge. He is also survived by his stepchildren Rob Gregory (Jessica), David Gregory (Kimberly), and Michael Gregory (LaKeshia); 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 5 nieces.
