Robert Leeroy Garland

Robert L. Garland, a Bowie resident since 1979, died Monday, October 1, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on March 31, 1941 in Carter County, Tennessee. He retired as a Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army and worked for the federal government.  After retirement, he drove a school bus for Prince George’s County Public Schools for several years and then transitioned to driving the Bowie Senior bus which he loved.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years Waltraud (Betty) Garland, and two daughters. The joy of his life were his grandchildren whom he doted on. 

Interment will be at Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery Crownsville after a private ceremony for immediate family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20902
