Major Robert F. Gload, United States Air Force of Crofton, Maryland passed away on February 23, 2020. Robert (Bob) was born on May 6, 1930 to Frederick and Eva Lavalley Gload in Champlain, New York. He graduated from Mount Assumption Institute High School in 1947.
In January of 1948, Bob joined the Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 20 years. After his retirement from the service in 1968, he worked as a successful salesman for both Motorola and Ericsson-GE.
He married the love of his life, Dolores DiPersico, on January 26, 1957. They have 4 children: Ted, Nancy, Bob, and Chris, who have provided their parents with 15 beautiful grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons who are going to be born this year.
Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was devoted to his family and attended as many of his grandchildren’s sporting events and other functions as much as possible. He loved his country and the military and was a dedicated member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans. Bob was the VFW’s Buddy Poppy Program’s chief fundraiser, raising thousands of dollars for this program. He also was a longtime member of the Benevolent Protected Order of the Elks. Bob was an avid fisherman, who returned to fish on Lake Champlain in upstate New York for most of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores and his children and their families: Ted and Diane Gload, Colin and Brittany Gload, Taylor Gload, Kristen Gload and Andrew Gload; Nancy Crim, Russell Crim, Matthew and Victoria Crim, and Jennifer Crim; Bob and Karla Gload, Kaylee Gload, and Kerrie Gload; Chris Gload, Joseph Gload, Torrey Gload, Amy Gload, Jessie Gload, Troy Gload, and Alahna Gload, as well as his sisters, Betty Passnault, Leona Cartuccio and Mary Lou Sndyer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Known to his grandchildren as their beloved Pippy, he was a source of much amusement and will forever be remembered as providing many great memories and experiences to his family.
