Robert James McMeans

On Friday, December 2, 2022 Robert J. McMeans of Crofton, MD died at the age of 83 in hospice care. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vivian in 2017; devoted father of Vanessa Manzitti of Catonsville, MD, and Kevin McMeans of Bowie, MD; also father in law to Debbie McMeans of Bowie, MD; adored Grandfather of Bryanne Manzitti, Troy Manzitti, and Tyler McMeans. He was the youngest of four children born to Frederick and Louise McMeans of Indian Head, MD.

While he spent his entire life playing guitar and singing, he spent his teen years as a self taught wood-worker building boats. Known as "Little Bobby Mac" he played lead guitar and vocals professionally with two different bands throughout the late 1950's and 1960's (The Prodigals and The Rhythm Makers) in the DC and Suburban MD areas. He was also a self-employed graphic designer (McMeans Graphics) in Washington, DC. Bob and Vivian enjoyed their weekends at their home on the water in Cobb Island, MD. All who knew him will most fondly remember the love of music he shared and influenced us with.

Friends may visit Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Route 3 South), Bowie, MD 20715 on Thursday, December 8th, 2022, 6:00-7:30 pm. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 7:30 pm.  

Interment will take place at 12:30pm on Tuesday, December 13th, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Ave., Suitland MD, 20746.
