Robert G. (Bob) Mutchler of Bowie, MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the age of 89. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, sons Paul, George and Floyd and his beloved German Shepard dogs, Barron and Chief. He was also preceded in death by his brothers James, Edward, Thomas, Joseph and sisters Frances, Betty and Joan.
Bob was born to Floyd and Frances Mutchler of Mount Rainier, MD on March 28, 1931, where he lived until moving to Bowie, MD in 1989. Bob worked as a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service in the town he was born and raised in until his retirement. He served in the United States Army. He also continued to serve his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Mount Rainier Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years, where he worked his way through the ranks to ultimately serve as the Volunteer Fire Chief and was awarded Life Membership.
Bob is survived by his children, Pam Gouldman and her husband Jeff, John Mutchler and his wife Vivian, Kim Stavely and her husband Brian, Linda Mowatt and her husband John, Robert Mutchler and his wife Lianne and Christopher Mutchler and his wife Terri.
Bob has 16 Grandchildren, Philip Gouldman, Casey (Gouldman) Gunther, Steven Gouldman, John Mutchler II, Kara (Mutchler) Ciprich, Eric Mutchler, Ryan Stavely, Lauren (Stavely) Lawson, Robert Mutchler, Sarah Mutchler, Ashley Sims, Caitlyn (Sims) Doneski, Zachary Mutchler, Emily Mutchler, Eddie Mutchler, and Zoe Mutchler.
And 14 Great Grandchildren, Autumn, Bailey, Nora and Jackson Ciprich, Nathan, Lindsey Mutchler, Alexander Turse, Ellie Stavely, Lucas and Sam Lawson, Jaiden Sims, Cassidy Young, Colton Doneski and Julian Penn.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021
Family viewing will be 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM
Public viewing will be 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
A funeral Mass will follow the viewings at 12:00 PM
Viewings and funeral Mass will be held at St. Edwards the Confessor Church, 1940 Mitchellville Rd, Bowie, MD 20716. Due to Covid restrictions, attendance in the church is limited to 100 people, masks and social distancing will be followed.
Following mass there will be a funeral procession to Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd., Brentwood, MD 20722 where he will be interned with his beloved wife Patricia.
