Robert Edward Naugle

Robert E. Naugle of Bowie, MD passed on Friday, March 21, 2025. He was born September 18, 1935 in Pittston, PA to George E. and Helen Cary Naugle and grew up in West Pittston until he joined the Army in 1954. He married Jane Lydia Brown Naugle on June 29, 1957 and moved to Washington, DC. While attending the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, Robert began his career with the National Security Agency (NSA) at Fort George G. Meade in 1958. On June 10, 1968 Robert, Jane, and his sons Jonathan and Jeffrey moved to Stuttgart Germany to continue his work with NSA, returning to the USA and their home in Bowie Maryland in June of 1971. Robert had many interests including photography and film, audio, bird watching, gardening, and was an avid golfer. Robert and Jane initially met because of Robert's interest in photography and Jane having one of the newest cameras available at the time. Both Robert and Jane were very active with the golfing community in and around the Bowie area and were members of a number of golf groups in the area. In addition, he and Jane always had a love for dogs and adopted many dogs over their years together. He is survived by his two sons, Jonathan, of Gaithersburg, MD and Jeffrey (wife Carol) of Bowie, MD; and granddaughter, Melissa Naugle, daughter of Jonathan, of Gaithersburg, MD.
