Roberto Morales - Sanchez

November 7, 1937 — July 13, 2020

Roberto Morales-Sanchez was born in Puerto Rico in 1937. He attained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puerto Rico. Roberto’s early career was spent in public service as the youngest appointed municipal judge, district judge, special assistant to Governor Sanchez-Vilella and US Federal district courts. He was a partner in several private law practices focusing on criminal, family and bankruptcy laws. In the early 1990s, he moved along with his family to Crofton, Maryland where he lived for the rest of his life. He retired from Federal service with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission in the late 1990s but continued to provide pro bono legal advise to disadvantaged groups in Anne Arundel county and volunteer as liaison between the Hispanic community and the Annapolis Police Department. He always championed common sense mediation over protracted legal action wherever necessary.

Roberto Morales-Sanchez married Doris Travieso-Latimer in 1966. They raised three children in Puerto Rico. Roberto, Jr works in aerospace and lives northern Virginia, Luis is an airline pilot and lives in Maryland, and Doris is a tourism and marketing professional and lives in Maryland.

Roberto passed away suddenly on July 13, 2020. He is survived by his wife Doris, children Roberto and wife Margaret, Luis, Doris (Dee) and husband David. His beloved grandchildren Magdalena Skye, Grace, Marie and Elizabeth also mourn his passing.
