Robin Joseph O’ Hara, age 59 of Bowie, Maryland died peacefully on January 12, 2021.
Rob was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1961 and raised in Bowie, MD. He attended St Pius X elementary school. He also served as an altar boy and worked part time answering phones at the SPX rectory in his youth. He was an excellent baseball player who participated in the Bowie youth and Prince Georges County baseball leagues. He also played in the Bowie basketball league. He was a member of the Bowie Figure Skating Club where as a figure skater he reached level 2 in the ISIA rankings.
After graduating from Bowie High school Robin proudly served in the United States Army for ten years where he was a Pershing Missile Maintenance technician. He served two years in Germany as part of a missile battery responsible for launching nuclear weapons. He received several awards and medals for his military service and was especially proud of his SHARP SHOOTERS medal.
After leaving the Army he worked for NASA and achieved degrees in computer science from the Anne Arundel Community College. He left NASA and founded his own company which created websites and optimized internet search engines.
Robin enjoyed the ocean beaches, fishing, baseball, hiking, coin collecting and observing celestial occurrences.
Rob is survived by his sons Aaron Joseph O’ Hara and Timothy R. O’ Hara, wife Sajini Thomas, brother Timothy D. O’ Hara (Colleen), sister Heather Tawney (Jason) and his parents Merrily and John O’ Hara. He has a predeceased son Matthew Thomas.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 pm on January 26 at the Beall funeral home at 6512 Crain highway in Bowie MD. 20715.
A mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday January 27 at St Pius X Catholic church in Bowie.
On February 5, Rob will be buried at the Cheltenham military cemetery at 11301 Crain highway in Cheltenham MD 20623. There will be no service at the cemetery.
At some future date when the coronavirus is under control we will have a function to celebrate Robin's life.
