On Friday, August 14, 2020, Ronald Edward Roski passed away peacefully at his home in Catonsville, Maryland at Charlestown Retirement Community at the age of 84.
Ronald is survived by his son, Mark Ronald Roski (Tracy) and daughter Holly Ann Patronik (Michael); grandchildren, Shelby, Zachary, Morgan and Kasey, and great-grandson, Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna Roski, one brother, Edward Roski, his wife, Elaine Dorothy Roski, granddaughter, Sydney Elaine Patronik, and niece, Sharyn Laskowski.
Ronald was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where he attended Plymouth High School and went on to play basketball for Wilkes University. After school, he joined the U.S. Army and shared many stories about France and Germany. After serving, he took a job with General Motors and was transferred to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He stayed in Harrisburg until 1978 when he left General Motors and took a position at the University of Maryland, in College Park, Maryland. His family moved to Bowie, and he resided there until the passing of his beloved wife, Elaine, and his retirement from the University. He moved from Bowie and spent a short time in the Odenton, Maryland area until his eventual move to Charlestown Retirement Community in 2017.
A life-long sports fan, particularly of Penn State football and Maryland basketball and football, where he held season tickets for many years, he will always be remembered for his love of these teams and passion for the game. While living in Bowie, “Ron” was very active with the Knights of Columbus where he served as Treasurer for many years and often socialized there with family and friends. He was also an Usher at St. Pius X Church for several years until his move to Odenton. Ronald was immensely proud of his family and grandchildren. He leaves nothing behind but wonderful memories. Ron enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren and attending their many school and sporting events.
Services are being held at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie Maryland. There will be a modified visitation on Friday, August 21 from 10am – 12pm, with a brief funeral service following the visitation, at noon. Burial is immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland.
