Rose Roberts Gordon

Rosalina Gordon, lovingly known as ‘Mamis’ transitioned to eternity, at a youthful 90 years on January 1, 2021. 

[Aunt] Mamis was born to the late Joseph and Lena Roberts, June 10, 1930 in Freeport Trinidad. She was one of eight children. She married the late Andrew Gordon on June 24,1951 and together they had two children:Clarence (deceased) and Thomas.

Mamis was an entrepreneur at heart and lover of nature, but more importantly, she was a lover of God. She loved tending to her gardens, cooking and baking. Mamis migrated to the United States  in 1985 in an effort to provide new opportunities for her family. It is here she would live out the remainder of her life. She brought with her the same drive and passion she always had and found ways to adjust and embrace her new normal (long before “new normal” was a thing). She found community here with family members and friends.

Mamis is survived by her son Thomas, her three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, her siblings, her nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, church family and caregivers.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday January 13th, 2021 at 10am and the funeral mass will be held at 11am at St. Matthias the Apostle Church, 9475 Annapolis Road, Lanham MD 20706. Burial will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 13801 Georgia Avenue Silver Springs MD 20906 on January 15th, 2021 at 2pm.
