Rose Perticone Jones

June 21, 1932 — June 10, 2024

Oxon Hill

Rose Jones, daughter of Sam and Maria Perticone, sister to Charles Spampinato, and mother of Donna Jones and Kim Jones (Peter Legg), was born on June 21, 1932, and passed away at her home June 10, 2024.

Rose grew up on Capitol Hill, proud of her Sicilian heritage and close-knit family. She completed her education at Saint Cecilia's Academy and graduated from the Washington School of Secretaries, subsequently working in various administrative roles for many years. In 1973, she moved to Maryland, where she raised her daughters in the home she held dear.

From a young age, Rose had a deep love for music. She sang opera as a child and enjoyed attending all kinds of concerts throughout her life. Her appreciation for music lifted her spirits, and she could dance the night away, whether in her living room or on the dance floor.

Rose so enjoyed spending time at the beach, watching the hummingbirds at her feeders, and nurturing her garden. Her delicious cooking, creativity and panache made every occasion she hosted special and memorable. She had a great sense of humor and could be wonderfully silly.

Family and friends were at the heart of Rose's life. She cherished being with loved ones and the moments spent together. Her resilience and strength of spirit always prevailed over the health challenges she sometimes faced.

Rose will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering resilience, and boundless love for those around her.

Rose's daughters, Donna and Kim, wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who shared their lives with her. Your companionship and support meant the world to Rose.

A mass will be on Sunday, June 30th at 2pm at St Joseph’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill, 313 Second St. NE, Wash. DC. 20002. Please know the church does not have its own parking. There is a small lot nearby and street parking. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Internment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Rose's memory to be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
