Ruth Ann Killion, a friend and refuge to everyone she met, passed on to her Eternal
home on Tuesday November 23, 2021 in Lanham, Maryland.
Ruth Ann’s family and friends will remember her most as a true servant of the Lord,
living her faith out every day and treating friends, family, and strangers with open
arms and selfless giving of her time, resources, and prayers. While Ruth Ann’s
career with the U.S. Census Bureau earned her national recognition, she believed
her family to be her life’s most important accomplishment.
Ruth Ann was born November 2, 1949 in Springfield, IL to Rev. Russell D Killion
and Barbara Allgood Killion. She and her family resided in Upper Marlboro, MD for
more than 30 years.
Ruth Ann leaves behind a multitude of family members who were her pride and joy
and who will remain forever grateful for her impact on their lives. She is survived
by her two sons, Benjamin Killion-Conrad of Upper Marlboro, MD and Peter
Killion-Conrad (grandson Donovan) of Upper Marlboro, MD; her daughter
Rosmery Rodulfo (grandaughters Keisy and Kayla, grandson Jordany and Ricky); her mother
Barbara Allgood Killion of Montgomery, AL; her best friend and life partner David
Conrad, sister Nancy Killion Jaissle (Robert) of Centerport, NY; brother Daniel
Killion of Montgomery, AL; sister Josie Killion Firestone (Kenneth) of Monroe,
Tennessee; sister Mary Margaret “Miggy” Killion Carnahan (Rev. Mark) of
Lanesville, IN; brother Rev, Timothy Killion (Kathy) of Forsyth, IL; sister Amy Killion
Millo (David, Sr.) of Montgomery and sister Sarah Killion of Garland, TX. She has 25
nieces and nephews. She is reunited in death with her father, Rev. Russell D. Killion
and her nephew, Miles Benjamin Killion Carnahan.
Ruth Ann was a respected and dedicated statistician at the U.S. Census Bureau’s
PRED and Agriculture Division where she retired in 2019. Her leadership and
masterful execution of statistical analysis for the US Census not only helped shape
public policy but led her to being awarded a Fellowship of the American Statistical
Association in 2016, the highest honor in her field.
Prior to her time with at the US Census Bureau, Ruth Ann helped the Evangelical
Lutheran Church of America operate and expand in its early days in Chicago, IL.
Her dedication to her church and community never wavered throughout her life,
and she was a faithful member of All Saints Lutheran Church for 29 years.
Ruth Ann was a proud alum of Florida State University and loved cheering for the
Seminoles at stadiums across the country.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Lutheran Church, and The Maryland Lynching
Memorial Project.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, Bowie, MD at 11am on Saturday
December 4, 2021. It will be streamed live at XX for those unable to attend in person. Online
