Ruth Ellen Seekford

Ruth Ellen (Bageant) Seekford was born at home in Whitacre, Virginia on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1936. She died at home in Bowie, Maryland, on March 19, 2024, in the presence of her loving daughters. 

Ruth was a very rare and special person. She was such a humble, loving soul, eager to give a helping hand to anyone in need and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was loved by everyone who knew her as well as those she had just met. It is so hard to put into words what an extremely incredible woman she was throughout her life; those who knew her know this to be true.

Ruth enjoyed a variety of activities like bowling, shuffleboard, softball 

as well as going to concerts, casinos, and festivals. She was very creative at making all kinds of crafts and ceramics. But, her most treasured activity was spending time with her family and friends. For many years, Ruth and husband Tom hosted Christmas parties 

where family and many friends celebrated together, some are still 

talked about with love and laughter to this day.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Brenda and Robin; her grandson, Elijah; her sisters: Irene Via of Stephens City, VA and Nevelene Bretz of New Cumberland, PA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eugene Seekford; 

her son, Mark Anthony Seekford; her parents, Clark Purcell Bageant and Opal Viola Clark; and her sisters and brother: Gladys Hillyard, Kitty Luttrell, Patsy Hawkins, Ona “Chook” Dill, Dorothy, Betty Bell, Catherine, and Purcell.

 On Friday, April 5, a brief Visitation at 12 Noon followed by a Service at 12:30pm will be held at Beall’s Funeral Home at 6512 NW Crain Hwy., Bowie, MD. Internment will follow the service at Lakemont Memorial Gardens at 900 West Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD.
