           John 3:16

Sammy McLain was born on June 8, 1945 in Clinton, North Carolina to the late James David McLain and Louise Hemmingway McLain. He departed this earthly life on December 18, 2020 at his home in Gambrills, MD.

Sammy was a hard working, happy, kind and loving man who loved making everyone around him laugh.

He was always making jokes and enjoyed watching westerns, football, driving his truck and spending time with his wife and family. Sammy worked 30 years as a Forman at the Clark Construction Company and did so until he retired.

He was the loving husband to Ruth McLain (his Honey) for 56 years.  To this union they were blessed with 6 children, five daughters and one son.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Ruth McLain , his son Sammy McLain Jr of Olney, MD; five daughters, Angela McLain Jones of Rockville, MD; Linda McLain Samuels of Clarksburg, MD; Priscilla McLain  Dosunmu of Hanover, MD; Aretha McLain of Clarksburg, MD and Valerie McLain Robinson of Waldorf, MD. He also leaves two sisters, Rose Ann Waters and Dorothy Fletcher both of Greensboro, NC; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Remember me with smiles not tears, for all the joy through all the years. Recall the closeness that was ours, A love as sweet” as fragrant flowers. Dont dwell on thoughts that cause you pain, Well see each other once again. I am at peace….try to believe, It was my time… I had to leave. But what a view” I have from here, I see your face, I feel you near. I follow you throughout the day, Youre not alone along the way. And when God calls you…you will be, Right by my side… right here with me. Till then, Ill wait by heavens door, Well be united… evermore.
