Sandra J. Bossard, 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2020 surrounded by family at home. Sandra was born in Norwich, NY on January 4, 1950 to the late John E. Beesmer and the late Marilyn P. (Green) Beesmer, spending her formative years in DeRuyter, NY. She was a longtime resident of Largo, MD where she taught Elementary through High School and was the Director of the Independent Learning program at Capitol Christian Academy for 18 years. She was passionate about working with students with learning disabilities and was certified with National Institute for Learning Disabilities (NILD). She then transitioned, for the next 6 years, to a role as the Learning Specialist at Grace Christian School. She was a lifelong learner, earning her Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Learning Disabilities from Regent University. After retiring in 2006, she continued to consult at Grace Christian School working with individual students with learning disabilities. She devoted her personal and professional life to ministering to those within her sphere of influence. She brought an enthusiasm for learning and a deep love for God that communicated hope to students, their families and staff members. She loved volunteering in various church ministries. She devoted 25 years, alongside her husband James, to the AWANA ministry, serving as Commanders for a number of years.
She was a devoted wife, mother and especially loved her role as grandmother. She had a vivacious personality and always made those around her laugh and feel loved. In addition to having a love for all things creative, Sandra loved gardening, sewing, singing, playing musical instruments, crafting, reading, puzzles and family.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James R. Bossard of Perkasie, PA; four children, Michael A. Bossard (Rachael), Mark A. Bossard, Aaron J. Bossard (Kate) and Amy J. Bossard (Trevor); sisters, Susan Nichols, Sharon Beesmer and Shirley Beesmer; brothers, Richard Beesmer and Howard Beesmer; grandchildren, Reed and Raegan.
A memorial service will be held 11:00am on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at:
