Sadly, on Sunday, May 9th, 2021, Sharon Lee Drew, a loving mother, devoted sister, and loyal friend to many, lost her battle with cancer at the age of 73.
Sharon was born in Leesburg, VA on January 25, 1948, to William Lynch Oliver and Frances Oliver. She was preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children James “Mike” Michael Titcomb (1987), her husband Matthew “Cole” Drew (2018), as well as her two sons James “Jimmy” Matthew Titcomb (2019) and John Mark Titcomb (2019). She is survived by her two sons William “Billy” Michael Titcomb and Jason Matthew Titcomb, her brothers William “Bill” Freeman Oliver, Larry Bruce Oliver and Robert “Bobby” Lynch Oliver, as well as eight grandchildren.
Sharon had a passion for her family, her community, and her faith. While raising her four boys, Sharon became an active member in her church, the Community United Methodist Church (CUMC), and the Crofton Kiwanis Club. In a span of over thirty years as a member of the CUMC, Sharon (in addition to many other roles) served in the church choir, helped lead Vacation Bible School, took part in the Summer Drama Camp for the youth, was a member of the Church Council, and a leader of the Church’s Grief Support Group. As a member of the Kiwanis Club, Sharon helped lead and organize The Key Club, which was a student-led organization which encourages leadership through serving others. Furthermore, at her time with the Kiwanis Club, she also created the K-Kids group at Crofton Woods Elementary School, served as the Crofton Kiwanis Club Advisor, helped in the promotion of Crofton Civic Association family and recreation programs, participated for many years in the club's popular Crofton Care and Rehabilitation Center and the Crofton Kiwanis membership development. She also served as the Board Secretary and as an elected Director. Sharon was awarded the Kiwanis International George F. Hixson Medallion, presented by the Crofton Kiwanis Board of Directors for distinguished service, and in 1993 she received the Crofton Civic Association Citizen of the Year Award.
Sharon was an extraordinary woman, she was kind, encouraging, fearless, and always maintained a positive attitude. Even after the losses of two husbands and two of her sons, she remained a pillar of strength for others to lean on. Like a Lighthouse beacons troubled ships, she was always there providing a guiding light as a symbol of hope during the darkest of times. She will be missed dearly by all that were lucky enough to have known her and will live on forever in our memories as an astounding leader, mother, sister and friend. Her beautiful smile will live on as a beacon of hope as we push on.
A celebration of life will be held for Sharon on July 17, 2021, at 11:00am, at the Community United Methodist Church in Crofton, MD.
