It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Stella V. Clark, who left us on December 20, 2024, at the remarkable age of 97. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. With her unique New York accent, she fondly recounted her joyful moments spent playing hopscotch with her cousins and sister, Diane, in the streets of Brooklyn. She felt enveloped in love from her father’s cooking, the warm hugs from Yia-Yia Sappho, and Aunt Dora’s welcoming smile.
Throughout her life, Stella cultivated a deep love for dancing, reading, playing cards, bible study, and cherishing moments with her family, particularly when it included delightful Greek cuisine. She proudly regarded becoming a mother as one of her greatest achievements! In her later years, she made wonderful memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished her monthly family visits and embarked on various adventures, such as observing Taekwondo and horseback riding sessions, sipping mocktails, watching "Gone with the Wind," cheering at hockey games, and trying countless new dishes.
She treasured her time with her youngest grandson, Jimmy, saying, “I needed him and he needed me!” Their bond was incredibly strong, a connection many aspire to have. Stella is survived by her children Maria (Matthew) Irwin, Kay Kohout (Glenn), and Thomas (Colleen) Mavrikes. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply. She is predeceased by her former husband Nicholas T. Mavrikes, and former husband Harry Clark.
