Stephen Harvey Neff

October 25, 1963 — October 21, 2020

Stephen Harvey Neff died suddenly at his home in Bowie on October 21, 2020, four days before his 57th birthday. Steve was the son of the Rev. H. Richard Neff and Gertrude Simmons Neff, and the father of Anthony Richard Neff.  The family is deeply saddened by this unexpected loss.

Steve was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and grew up in Bowie.  After high school, he moved to California and began his career as a carpenter. He lived and worked out west before returning to Bowie about nine years ago. In all his travels Steve remained an avid Redskins fan.

Steve is remembered most for his kindness, his willingness to help others, as he readily shared his construction skills with family and friends.  His true joy in life was his son Anthony who meant the world to him. They were a terrific team, always laughing, telling jokes, and just loved being together.

In addition to his parents and his son, Steve is survived by two sisters and a brother - Anne McCrary of Wayne, PA, Susan Alderfer (Travis) of Elizabeth, CO, and John Neff (Marilee) of Davidsonville, MD. An older brother, David Neff died in 1996. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews - Brian Neff (Brittany), Rachel Bechard (Neil), Mike McCrary (Chelsea), Chris Harder, Matthew Harder, Hannah Neff, Derrick Neff, and Abby Neff.

A service will be held at the convenience of the family at Christian Community Presbyterian Church's Memorial Garden.
