Steven Darrell DeBoard, age 74, of Westminster, passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 11, after a long battle against breast cancer.
Steven was born on October 2, 1947, to Charles and Carolyn DeBoard in Washington, DC. The second of five children, he served valiantly in the 101st Division of the Airborne Rangers during Vietnam. Upon return from the war, he struggled his entire life from the physical and mental scars of his service.
Steven was predeceased by his parents and three of his siblings, Dale, Richard and Carol. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Vilma, of Westminster; daughters Melissa Schellhaas (Matt) of Mount Airy, MD, and Darlene Hall (David) of Utah, sons Charles of Albany, NY, and Dale (Mary) of Waldorf, MD; sister Debbie Mellema of Belmont, MA; and many beloved family members.
Services will be held at Beall Funeral home in Bowie, beginning at 11am on Monday, March 21. Internment will follow at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local Veterans support organization.
