Susan Gibson

Susan Gibson, of Odenton, MD, died at home on September 18, 2023. She was born in New London, CT in 1956 to Joseph and Mildred Pukas, who raised Susan alongside her two sisters Cathy and Ellen.

Susan met the love of their life, Roger in 1973 while attending a dance at the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. The two were married on June 4, 1977 at the Academy Chapel, shortly after Roger’s graduation. 

Susan and Roger have two sons, David and Peter, and took great pride in supporting their sons through school, Boy Scouts, Baseball, and various other activities.

Though Susan loved raising her two sons, her favorite role was that of Nana. She treasured her time with her grandson Joshua, and her grand-dogs Buddy, Eleanor, and Burlington.

As an active-duty Coast Guard family, Susan and Roger made life long friends while being transferred to several locations around the country including Connecticut, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Maryland, California, and Pennsylvania. 

Everyone who knew Susan knew how much she loved Christmas and Crafting.  She will always be remembered for her home-made Christmas decorations, especially her wooden cut out Christmas Ornaments which were party favors at her annual holiday party.

We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend; and will miss Susan every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

Susan was preceded in death by parents Joe and Milly Pukas, and her daughter-in-law Jennifer Solt. She is survived by her husband Roger, sons David & Peter, daughter-in-law Hilary, grandson Joshua, and sisters Cathy & Ellen.

Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1283 Odenton Rd, Odenton, MD 21113 on Saturday October 7, 2023 at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan’s name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation.
