Susan Palmer Love passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the age of 78 after a valiant 15-month struggle with glioblastoma. She was born November 12, 1943, in Rutland, VT. She is predeceased by her parents, Regina and Donald Palmer.
Sue was a graduate of Baldwin High School in NY. Upon graduation from Bucknell University in 1965 with a BS in mathematics, she was employed in the Statistical Methods Division and various other divisions of the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland, MD from which she retired. She was highly esteemed by her colleagues for her innovation and expertise developing and improving sample survey designs.
A devout Episcopalian, she was active in Holy Trinity Church in Bowie, MD where she was a member of the choir and served terms as treasurer. She was an outdoors person from early childhood, enjoying tennis, sailing, swimming, and skiing. She purchased land in Western Maryland near a ski resort and helped build her own cabin. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and musical theater, but her greatest enjoyment in life were the times she spent with her granddaughters.
She is survived by her son, Daniel P. Love, his wife Alicia, their daughters, Torah and Jena, and by her daughter, Erin S. Love, her son in-law Robert Quattro, and their daughters, Ashlyn and Willow Quattro, and three sisters, Sandra Palmer, Bonita Palmer, and Kathryn Palmer.
The family would like to thank the kind and empathetic staff at Spring Arbor of Crofton, MD who cared for her in her final days as well as the caring staff from Hospice of the Chesapeake.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be announced at a future date.
