Terrence (Terry) Tierney of Ocean City, MD, age 86, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in Arnold, MD.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Nancy (LaMark), his daughters Kelly Ednock (former son-in-law Dale), Kerry (Sean) Knaly, Heather Travers (Mark Thursby) son Jorge Jimenez, sister Margaret Marnhout, grandchildren Jake Knaly, Wade Knaly, Gavan Knaly, Alec Travers, Kyle Travers, along with Berkeley Thursby, Rowland Thursby, and Brightyn Thursby, great-grandchildren Kennedy Knaly and Brinston Thursby; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clement and Mary Tierney, and brother Paul Tierney.
Terry was born in Rochester, PA on July 18, 1937, and attended Slippery Rock University. Terry enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. He was an Electrical Engineer for Bendix, a contractor for NASA, for 38 years, where he helped put men on the moon.
Terry was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He married Nancy on October 7, 1961, in the country of Turkey. They traveled extensively throughout the world together before settling down in Bowie, MD in 1976 and then moving to Ocean City, MD in 1994.
Terry enjoyed coaching his daughters in sports, playing golf, being involved in the Special Olympics, and supporting the military. He was a proud American who loved his country. His family and friends will remember him as a happy, generous man who always had a smile on his face. He treated everyone like family and loved his family tremendously.
The viewing and service are scheduled on June 27, 2024 at 10am with the service following at 12pm at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD, followed by a military burial at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery with a reception to follow at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Annapolis, MD. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Terry's life. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in his name to Melanoma Research Foundation.
