Thomas "Tom" Maxwell Chandler, 70 of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away on November 1, 2024 at Doctors Community Medical Center.
Tom was born March 7, 1954 in Columbus, OH, to son of the late Edward McKee and Audrey Maxine (Bourgain) Chandler.
Tom graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1972. While working for A & E Blueprinting Company in 1973 he met his wife, Bertie Hickman. They married in 1974 and together had two daughters.
Tom worked for Sears Roebuck Co as a tractor technician for over 34 years. He was a very loyal hard working employee, receiving many awards. He retired in October 2010. Two months later, he fell ill and was hospitalized.
For thirteen years, Tom endured pain, various illnesses, and many hospitalizations. Never giving up and always coming back home. In 2023, he was diagnosed with early stages of dementia. Even with this diagnosis and his inability to walk well, he was determined to thrive. He always found a way to get to his old faithful tractor.
Tom adored all of his "girls". His wife, two daughters, granddaughter and two honorary daughters. He would do anything for them. But he found a new type of love with the birth of his only "boy". His grandson, Antwan, gave him more reason to fight.
Tom's greatest passions were deer hunting, guns, cutting the grass, and tinkering. He had a wealth of knowledge for fixing lots of things. Since he was a teenager, he would get away to go deer hunting with his best buds. He was always the mild mannered one of the group.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Bertie Chandler; Daughters, Bonnie (Keith) Moore and Barbara Chandler; Grandchildren, Kyonie and Antwan Moore; Honorary Daughters, Denesha (Shane) Sorrell and Edwinna "Winkie" (Charles) Haywood; Sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Steve) Bennett; Brothers, Daniel Chandler and James (Francis) Chandler; Best Buds, Forbes (Diane) Coup, Earl (Patsy) Coup and Charles (Donna) Minni; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Proceeding Tom in death are parents Edward and Audrey Chandler; Sister, Audrey "Suzie" Denson.
