Thomas A. Guarino

Tom Guarino, age 79, died of natural causes on August 5th, 2018, in Crofton, Maryland.

Tom is survived by his son, TJ, of Crofton, MD; his son, Paul, of Toms River, NJ; and his daughter, Katherine, of Buckhannon, WV. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank, of Mineola, NY; his mother, Josephine, of Mineola, NY; and his brother, Joseph, of Port Washington, NY.

Tom was born on September 14, 1938, to parents, Frank and Josephine. He graduated from Chaminade High School. He furthered his education by attending Niagara College on a track scholarship and then graduated from CW Post and Columbia University with degrees in Engineering and Physics. Tom had a long and distinguished career in the aerospace industry, most notably with Grumman Aerospace, where he worked for 20 years, rising to Executive Vice President. He also worked for the Department of Defense, Fairchild Republic, Martin Marietta, and founded a small business.

He married Katherine, in Kingston, NY and the couple had three children together. Tom divorced Katherine and was remarried to Anne Norton, in Charlotte, NC. He and Anne divorced in 2009.

Tom was an avid tennis player, winning many industrial league championships in doubles. He loved being on the water and had a boat for most of his adult life.

His family and friends will always remember him as a driven, successful and loyal person. He was someone that you could depend on when the chips were down, both in business and personally.

A service is scheduled for Noon on September 22nd, at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom’s life.
