Virginia M. Robertson of Bowie, MD and Seabrook, MD passed away peacefully on November 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born April 13, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, she was the only child of Elizabeth and Stephen O'Dwyer. She spent her childhood in Troy, NY and Catonsville, MD.
Virginia attended and graduated from Mount DeSales. While working at the C&P Telephone Company in Catonsville, MD, she met her husband, Col. Charles E. Robertson (USA, Ret./Dec.). They were married for more than 50 years.
She was a devout Catholic, a kind friend, and a loving mother who will be forever remembered.
Her spouse, Charles, and their four sons, Mark, Andrew, Robert, and Joseph preceded her in death. She is survived by five loving children and their families: Catherine Robertson, Patricia Simmons (Gene), Stephen Robertson (Judith), Elizabeth Hockey, and Gregory Robertson (Carrie). She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law, Shirley Ann Resau; seven cherished grandchildren; and five precious great-grandchildren.
Virginia retired from a career dedicated to public service at the Government Printing Office and the U.S. Department of Commerce. She received recognition for excellence and service from President Clinton, and she served on a team that was honored with the Edward R. Murrow Award. She was deeply devoted to her family and loved ones. Virginia was known for her Irish charm, infectious smile, and her loving nature. She enjoyed creating ceramics, cooking, reading, discussing current events, and sports.
