William Donald DeVaughn

William Donald DeVaughn, age 87, of Upper Marlboro MD, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020. Donald was born July 21, 1932 in Croom MD. He is predeceased in death by his parents Ralph R. DeVaughn and Margaret M. DeVaughn.

Donald was a graduate of Frederick Sasscer High School where after graduation he was a tobacco farmer. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957 as an aerial engineer. After being discharged from the navy he continued his farming and then went to work for H&H Machine Company where he worked as a welder for many years. Donald was a very talented welder and could fix just about anything.

Donald is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 52 years, Catherine Lucille DeVaughn, his two children, Ralph Clayton, (Jennifer), and William Douglas. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Olivia Lisle (Matt) and Levi DeVaughn, two great-grandchildren Grace and Riley Lisle. He is predeceased in death by his daughter-in-law Rebecca Devaughn, Doug’s wife.

Donald's hobbies in his early years were playing baseball and soccer, duck hunting, and water skiing with his wife Catherine. They also enjoyed bowling. Later in life his main hobby was farming with his two sons and cutting grass at the two family farms.

Donald and his wife Catherine attended Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church until their health stopped them from attending. At that time, he and his wife watched mass on TV every Sunday and continued his faith.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
