William D. Pruitt

William Pruitt, of Upper Marlboro, MD,  was the Founder/ Executive Director for the McCoy Center Family and Youth Services Inc. In this capacity, he acquired the organization’s 501c3, recruited and trained board members, secured governmental contracts and managed the overall operation of the organization. Mr. Pruitt possessed a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He was licensed to practice social work in New York State. He also spent twenty-five years working with two of the largest human service organizations on Long Island where he held various administrative positions. His past employment experiences encompassed functioning as Senior Vice President, Director of Business Affairs, Director of Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement and Housing Director.

Mr. Pruitt served as a Certified Peer Reviewer with the Council on Accreditation for Children and Families Services (COA). As a Peer Reviewer, he utilized national standards to review organizations throughout the country for accreditation. Additionally, his quality assurance experience included assessing service programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and county regulations.

Mr. Pruitt retired in December 2014 and recently consulted on various subject matters related to business startups/service capacities and a Board Member for the Beachtree Community.

Mr. Pruitt leaves behind his wife Bertha Pruitt, his son Kobie Pruitt, daughter-in-law Constance Pruitt, step-daughter Phoebe Smith, his siblings K C Pruitt, Terry Pruitt, Nancy Weber, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
