Yvonne (Vonnie) DeCarlo Daise McManus was born on August 5, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York to Virginia Daise (Mother) and the late Charles Daise (Father)
She attended elementary school in Brooklyn, N.Y. At the age of 10, she moved to North Carolina and was educated in the North Carolina school system and graduated from Rose High School. She continued her education at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), and became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in 1984.
After graduating from ECSU, Vonnie’s employment career started in N.Y.C. However, moving to Maryland is where the journey of her career began, she worked as the Director of Customer Service for a Life Insurance company, Manager; The Office of Tax and Revenue; to her current position as Asst. Director at DC Gov’t of the City Mgmt. Chief of Staff.
In 1990, she decided to “come grow old with me, the best is yet to be” and married her college sweetheart, Dunham McManus and from this union were born two children, Duneia Janae’ McManus and Daijah Imani McManus. We remember her often saying, with pride how much she loved her girls and how proud they made her feel.
She enjoyed shopping, traveling, cooking, baking, entertaining, and decorating her home. She was an artist at heart, as she crafted many items in her home including handmade ornaments. Her favorite pastime was doting on and spending ample time with her daughters. She was the cool mom, and would accompany them to any concert, basketball game or outing.
In the loving presence of her family, Vonnie transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.
She leaves to mourn her loving and supportive husband; Dunham, her daughters; Duneia and Daijah, Her mother; Virginia Daise, Siblings; Shirley, Diane, Edward, Carolyn (Curtis), Jahmel (Terri), and Pamela (Alfred),Sister –in-Law: Veronica, Brother-in-laws: Barry and Gregory. She also leaves a host of loved ones including an Aunt, Nieces, and Nephews, Cousins and other family members and friends.
Her Grandmother (Naomi Ables) and Mother-in-law (Irene Miller-Lay) preceded her in Death.
