On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, Zachary Benton Aaron entered into eternal peace to be with his heavenly father.
Zachary was the son of the late Otis Benton Aaron, Jr., and Alice Victoria Dunnington Aaron. He was born on August 6, 1964, in Washington, D.C.
After graduating from Suitland High School in 1982, Zachary entered the United States Marine Corps, but was discharged due to a medical condition. Throughout his life, he worked in many disciplines in the Metropolitan Area, including Sales Manager for an auto dealership, Trainer and most recently, as a Sterile Processing Technician. To facilitate his multi-faceted career, he obtained several certifications, including a 2-year Engineering Technician certificate from TESST Electronic School, Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certificate for the International Association of Healthcare Service Material Management, and a Certified Sterile Processing Technician Certification from Anne Arundel Community College. He also served as a loving caretaker for his Mother during her illness.
Zachary was loved by all who knew him. He was a very special individual who could light up a room with his personality and yet make everyone else feel special. He loved to laugh and have a good time. He was always willing to help in any way he could. He knew how to do “everything” and was so skillful that he made any and all projects seem simple. Family was important to him, and he shared his love with many families – Aaron’s, Dunnington’s, Thomas’s, Mitchell’s, Adkins’ and more.
Zachary had a great love for animals. He lovingly cared for his dog Giovanni (Gio) and his aunt’s dog Polo. Gio loved Zach unconditionally and Zach was Polo’s best friend. When Zach came to visit, Polo would excitedly jump in his arms and Zach would carry him around like a baby, to Polo’s delight.
Zachary was preceded in death by his parents Otis Benton Aaron, Jr., and Alice Victoria Dunnington Aaron. He was also preceded in death by Mrs. Willie Mae Mitchell who designated him her “adopted son”.
He leaves to mourn, brother, Lloyd Everett Thomas, III (Angela); sister, Rhonda Victoria Aaron; aunt, Regina Dunnington Johnson; uncle, Al Johnson; aunt, Deloris Dunnington; uncle, James Dunnington; nieces and nephews: Edina Thomas Flaathen, Eric Thomas, Aaron, Gabrielle, Donovan, Aliece, and Nyim Robinson; special cousins, Kimberly, Adonis, Jaxon and Jazelle Dorsey, Sandrena Brockman Robinson, and Vivian Aaron; the Mitchell Family – Guy, Lora, and Ramona; and a special friend Rich Adkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
